Outside Shiraz, we saw lots of nomads moving their large herds of sheep and goats to greener pasture in a bi-annual big migration. The big herds would spill out onto the highway, or sometimes would just head off overland.

The nomad women weave rugs and blankets very much like those the Navajo weave: geometric patterns on closely woven wool rugs. The rugs very inexpensive, and not much artistically valued in Iran, but I like them.

Shiraz used to be a major wine area before the revolution; the widely grown Shiraz (or Syrah) grape comes from here. Grapes are still grown here, but not for wine, of course (or at least, not legally).
